Semax calculator

Semax is a seven-amino-acid ACTH fragment sold as a nasal solution. In Russia it is a registered nootropic: the 0.1% drops deliver 50 mcg per drop and the labeled daily dose for memory and attention is 800 to 8,000 mcg, split over four applications.

Route

Easy mix
10 mg in 10 mL of bacteriostatic water = 1 mg/mL, the same 0.1% strength as the Russian drops. A standard pump sprays about 0.1 mL = 100 mcg, so 300 mcg = 3 sprays (or 6 drops at 50 mcg). Nasal, no syringe.

About the Semax math

Semax is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide; an N-acetyl variant is listed separately by some suppliers. It is sold in vials and in spray formats. This page covers vial math only, since syringe units mean nothing for a spray bottle. Vials are listed in 5 mg and 10 mg sizes. A 5 mg vial with 1 mL of bacteriostatic water is 5 mg/mL, or 5,000 mcg/mL. A 500 mcg draw is 0.1 mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe, and 5,000 divided by 500 is 10 draws per vial. A 10 mg vial with 2 mL is the same 5,000 mcg/mL, so 500 mcg is still 10 units and the vial holds 20 draws. With 1 mL in the 10 mg vial the concentration doubles to 10,000 mcg/mL and the same 500 mcg draw is 0.05 mL, or 5 units. For a spray format, the only useful figure is mcg per mL after dilution, which is the same mass divided by volume formula with no syringe step. Our concentration tool gives that number directly.

Semax questions

How much Semax should I take?

The Russian label for the 0.1% drops is 2 to 3 drops per nostril (50 mcg per drop) four times a day for 10 to 14 days, which is 800 to 8,000 mcg a day depending on body weight. Most people outside Russia use 200 to 600 mcg per application, two or three times a day. Start at the low end.

Semax nasal spray dosage in sprays?

At 1 mg/mL (10 mg in 10 mL), a standard pump gives about 100 mcg per spray. 300 mcg is 3 sprays, split between nostrils. Count the sprays your bottle gives per mL before you trust the math.

How many units is 500 mcg of Semax at 5 mg in 1 mL?

5 mg divided by 1 mL is 5 mg/mL, or 5,000 mcg/mL. 500 mcg divided by 5,000 mcg/mL is 0.1 mL, which is 10 units on a U-100 syringe.

How much bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg vial of Semax?

Any volume the vial holds. 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL, 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL and 3 mL gives 3.33 mg/mL (rounded). A 250 mcg draw is 2.5 units, 5 units or 7.5 units at those three concentrations, so 2 mL is the one that lands on a whole mark.

What is the concentration of 5 mg of Semax in 5 mL?

5 mg divided by 5 mL is 1 mg/mL, which is 1,000 mcg/mL. Every 0.1 mL of that solution holds 100 mcg, and a 1 mL volume holds 1 mg.
