Selank calculator

Selank is a seven-amino-acid tuftsin analog sold as a nasal solution and registered in Russia for generalized anxiety. The Russian product is 0.15% drops: about 75 mcg per drop, 2 drops per nostril three times a day for 14 days, roughly 900 mcg a day.

10 mg in 10 mL = 1 mg/mL. A pump that sprays 0.1 mL gives 100 mcg per spray, so 300 mcg = 3 sprays. The Russian drops are stronger (1.5 mg/mL) and dosed by the drop, about 75 mcg each. Nasal, no syringe.

About the Selank math

Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide related to tuftsin, listed in vials and in spray formats, with an N-acetyl variant sold under its own name by some suppliers. Vials come in 5 mg and 10 mg sizes. The example amount here is 300 mcg, which is awkward at some concentrations and clean at others, so it shows why the solvent volume is worth planning. A 5 mg vial with 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water is 2 mg/mL, or 2,000 mcg/mL. A 300 mcg draw is 0.15 mL, or 15 units on a U-100 syringe, and 5,000 divided by 300 gives 16 full draws with 200 mcg left. A 10 mg vial with 2.5 mL is 4 mg/mL, where 300 mcg is 0.075 mL, or 7.5 units, a half mark most barrels do not show. Use 3 mL in the 10 mg vial instead: 3.33 mg/mL (rounded), and 300 mcg is 0.09 mL, or 9 units, with 33 draws in the vial. The calculator flags draws that fall between marks.

Selank questions

How much Selank per day?

The Russian trial regimen works out to about 900 mcg a day: 2 drops per nostril of the 0.15% solution three times a day for 14 days. Community users take 250 to 500 mcg per application, one to three times a day. Start with one application a day.

Selank dosage in sprays?

At 1 mg/mL, a 0.1 mL pump spray delivers 100 mcg. 300 mcg is 3 sprays. If you mixed 10 mg in 5 mL instead, each spray is 200 mcg, so check your own concentration first.

How many units is 300 mcg of Selank at 5 mg in 2.5 mL?

5 mg divided by 2.5 mL is 2 mg/mL, or 2,000 mcg/mL. 300 mcg divided by 2,000 mcg/mL is 0.15 mL. On a U-100 syringe that is 15 units.

How much bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg vial of Selank?

Any volume the vial holds. 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL, 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL and 3 mL gives 3.33 mg/mL (rounded). A 300 mcg draw is 3 units, 6 units or 9 units at those concentrations.

How many 300 mcg draws does a 10 mg vial of Selank give?

10 mg is 10,000 mcg, and 10,000 divided by 300 is 33.3, so 33 full draws with 100 mcg left over. The leftover is the same whatever solvent volume was used.
